SECAUCUS, NJ — In Thursday's 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft, Red Bull New York drafted forward Randi Patterson of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro (1st round, 6th pick), midfielder Sal Caccavale from American University (2nd round, 19th pick) and goalkeeper Danny Cepero of the University of Pennsylvania (4th round, 46th pick).

Patterson, a 5-9, 170-pound forward from nearby Hackensack, NJ, is a three-time First Team All-Southern Conference selection (2004-06) and was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year in 2005. Also named to the NSCAA First Team (2004) and Second Team (2005), Patterson, who had accumlated 61 goals and 19 assists over four seasons for the Spartans, went to nearby Bergen (NJ) Catholic for high school and was a two-time First Team All-State selection and two-time Bergen County Coaches Association League Player of the Year.

Caccavale led American in points (19) and goals (7) and pitched in with five assists in 2006. Over his four year career with the Eagles, the 5-7, 145-pound West Islip, NY native earned First Team All-Patriot League honors for three-straight years and in his senior season, he was named to the NSCAA Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic squad. He finished his career at American as the seventh-leading scorer in program history.

A 6-2 goalkeeper, Cepero was named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region third team — the first time in program history that a goalkeeper has garnered that honor. This past season, Cepero, from Baldwin, NY, captained Penn to a 9-4-2 record overall and a 5-1-1 mark in the Ancient Eight, boasting a 0.76 goals against average and eight shutouts. Cepero was a unanimous All-Ivy First Team selection in 2006.
