NEW YORK -- SNY, the television home of the New York Mets, and its critically acclaimed baseball analyst Keith Hernandez, have agreed to a multi-year contract extension. With this new extension, Hernandez will make more than 110 appearances in the broadcast booth in 2008. In addition to his game analysis, Hernandez will continue to contribute to SNY's Mets pre- and post-game shows, as well as the network's website www.sny.tv. Hernandez will join Kevin Burkhardt on the Feb. 11 edition of SNY's Mets Hot Stove show, where he will discuss his return to the booth, and the 2008 Mets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Keith is one of the elite analysts in baseball, and we're excited to continue our relationship with him," said Curt Gowdy, Jr., Senior Vice President of Production and Executive Producer. "His candid analysis and unique perspective of the game make him one of the most entertaining broadcasters in all of sports. He is the perfect compliment to Gary and Ron -- forming baseball's top broadcast booth."
"I am thrilled to be coming back to SNY," said Keith Hernandez. "It's going to be an exciting season to cover the Mets with Gary [Cohen] and Ronnie [Darling] -- especially with the addition of Johan Santana, and the final season at Shea Stadium where I have so many fond memories. I'm looking forward to calling Mets games on SNY for many years to come."
