NEW YORK -- Basketball fans in New York won't get to see the Duke-UCLA matchup they might have hoped for.
Michigan spoiled the party by upsetting the No. 4 Bruins, 55-52, in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer at Madison Square Garden.
The Wolverines (3-0) will meet Duke (4-0) in the championship game Friday night at 7. The Blue Devils routed Southern Illinois, 83-58, in the first game. UCLA (2-1) will face SIU (2-1) in the consolation at 5.
"You have to give Michigan all the credit," UCLA coach Ben Howland said. "They did a great job with their defense, forcing us into 17 turnovers."
Michigan outscored UCLA 32-23 in the second half.
With Michigan up 51-48, Josh Shipp was fouled and made 1-of-2 to cut it to 51-49.
Anthony Wright hit a cutting DeShawn Sims for an easy dunk to give the Wolverines a 53-49 lead.
"That dunk there was a deflating play for us," Howland said.
Nikola Dragovic hit a 3-pointer to pull UCLA within 53-52 with 5 seconds on the clock.
Michigan's Manny Harris was fouled with 4.1 seconds left and made both free throws to push the lead to 55-52.
Darren Collison's desperation 3-point attempt was blocked with time running out.
Sims led all scorers with 18 points, Harris added 15 and Stu Douglass 10. Harris added 5 assists
Jrue Holiday and Darren Collison had 13 points apiece for UCLA.
