SECAUCUS, NEW JERSEY -- The New York Red Bulls on Thursday acquired midfielder Khano Smith from the Seattle Sounders FC for allocation money.

Smith, entering his fifth season, spent a majority of his career with the New England Revolution before being selected by Seattle in the expansion draft.

The Bermuda international played in 85 games over four seasons with the Revolution, collecting eight goals and 11 assists.

"One of our priorities before the start of the season was to add depth and athleticism to the left side of our midfield and we feel that we have accomplished this goal by acquiring Khano," Red Bulls sporting director Jeff Agoos said. "We think that Khano's pace, athleticism and experience will help our club as we enter the new MLS season."
