How was everyone's weekend? I realize you're just reading this, and therefore I'll be unable to hear your response, but I'd still like it if you took the time right now to answer that question. Look at the computer screen right now and tell it legitimately how your weekend was. I'm listening.

Mets: Things aren't going particularly great for the Mets right now. If you wanted to look at the positives, the continued impressiveness of Matt Harvey would certainly suffice, as the rookie right-hander had perhaps the best start of his young career in a Thursday win over Cincinnati. Harvey pitched into the eighth inning, striking out eight, while allowing only one earned run and looking like a legitimate future star. It's encouraging. Of course, the encouragement would feel best if you just started ignoring everything that's going on with Johan Santana, a former superstar suffering through the painful process of sports mortality. Santana's season had once seemed like the pleasantest of surprises, and though his no-hitter will still last long as the major silver lining to another dreary Mets season, it's nonetheless still sad to watch this poor schlub get trounced every five days. It just doesn't seem right. The Mets will get set to play series with the Rockies and Astros, as they continue to play out the string of another wholly forgettable season.

Yankees: After a little bit of a bump in the road, the Yankees are once again a force of nature, winners of nine of 12 games, including another series win over the shockingly hapless Red Sox. As the Boston faithful continue to flog Bobby Valentine any chance they get, the Yankees just continue to roll no matter who they're forced to play without. Hiroki Kuroda continues to be a rock for the Yankees' rotation, authoring another gem in a complete-game win over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, an outing Joe Girardi deemed the club's best of the year. With CC Sabathia on the shelf for a stretch, Kuroda has stepped up to fill the hole of ace, giving the team some stability that has served them well. After two tough series with Texas and Boston, the Yanks will head on the road against the White Sox and Indians, still working on a big-time cushion in the American League East. Yes, the Yankees are quite good my friends; they just always are.

Jets:The Jets came into their annual preseason meeting with the Giants looking for a small measuring-stick game against the defending Super Bowl champs. Sure, preseason games are mostly meaningless, but it was something of a chance to test themselves against one of the league's very best. But once the game was over, it was best to just go back to the "preseason games are meaningless" mantra, just to make sure the 26-3 beatdown left no lingering effects. Don't let the chaos fool you; the Jets are not a bad team. But it is certainly yet to be seen if they are a good one, something that should give Rex Ryan cause for concern as his tenure heads in the wrong direction. But hey, at least they have two really handsome quarterbacks. Am I right?

Giants: The Giants had to leave their meeting with the Jets feeling awfully good, albeit battling a bizarre viral video of defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul doing something to Prince Amukamara. The whole thing was sort of baffling and strange, but hopefully ultimately forgettable. On the field, the Giants pass rush overwhelmed the Jets' offense, and Big Blue appears poised for another strong season. Things can change quickly in the tightly bunched NFL, but these G-men look to be solid. Oh God, please no one get hurt.
